said: “The guerrillas are fighting for… a new kind of society in Zimbabwe.
The far aim is to establish a socialist society… I think the society we envisage
is what the people of Rhodesia want, though they will have to be politicised.
They may not know what we mean by a socialist society In the new
Zimbabwe, there will be no parliamentary democracy, no voting and no
canvassing… White people who elect to stay would be welcome as long as
they conform with the policies and principles of the government of the day.”
